As a musician, I've learned first-hand how hard it can be to be discovered. Today demands daily social media posts, hoping to beat the algorithm, and constantly attempting to pull in eyes. Recent reports highlight the 'death' of new music, with streaming platforms pushing songs that listeners have listened to previously.
I wanted to help change that. In Summer 2026, a viral trend emerged, started by outbid.lol. This trend saw businesses pay to outbid each other in listings. Taking this concept to music, I developed tracklist.lol. I was keen to create a service where fans of all genres could easily discover new music. Our model works in a slightly different way, blending the value of social endorsement with the 'pay-to-rank' model of the trend.

On tracklist.lol, every like a track receives counts for 1 'rank point'. Every $1 an artist pays to rank counts for 100. Paid points fade continuously: larger opening balances keep more points overall, but their extra advantage fades faster at first. The fade steps up as a campaign gets older, while fan-earned points are tracked separately and follow the standard freshness fade. When a release drops out of the top 100, it is delisted.
This decay and delisting ensures the chart remains a constant source of new music for fans. We also have genre-specific charts; these offer a potentially longer time in the chart for songs, enabling them to continue getting exposure after delisting from the all-genre top 100.
